Williams Subaru is proud to be an official Certified Pre-Owned Subaru dealership. In addition to our vast inventory of new and used vehicles, we offer a high-value selection of Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Subaru cars and SUVs, giving you more options when you are searching for your next car. Drivers in Charlotte know the value of having a safe and dependable vehicle, and a CPO Subaru is one of the best ways to get an affordable vehicle that you can count on.

Subaru has staked out its place on one of the most reliable automakers in the industry today. It has been named the Best Overall Brand by Kelley Blue Book four times while being rated #1 for Quality and #1 for Dependability by the American Customer Satisfaction Index. The reason for that is that Subaru has built a reputation for safety and dependability. As for reliability, Experian has found that 96% of Subaru vehicles sold in the last ten years are still on the road today.

This means that if you buy a used Subaru car or SUV, you will be getting a very safe vehicle that will give you years of reliable performance. The best way to buy a used Subaru is one that is covered by the Subaru Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program. This will give you exceptional warranty coverage backed by Subaru and other great benefits that you won't find with a regular used car.

What Is the Difference Between CPO and Pre-Owned or Used?

One of the most common questions we get from customers who are looking at CPO Subaru models is whether there is any real difference between CPO and used. Some people think that the term CPO is just a clever marketing ploy cooked-up by an advertising executive. However, there are some clear differences between a CPO model and a normal used car.

Any car that has been previously owned by someone else is a used vehicle. This can be one driven by your neighbor, part of a fleet of rental cars, or a lease return. If the vehicle you are looking at has been owned and driven before it arrived on our lot, then it is used. So, all CPO Subaru vehicles are technically used cars, but not all used cars are CPO. The key difference is that in order to qualify for the Subaru CPO program, a used Subaru vehicle must meet a strict set of criteria.

First, any CPO Subaru must have been built for the last 5 model years. That means that the oldest Subaru that will be considered for the CPO program is from the 2017 model year. Second, it cannot have more than 80,000 miles on its odometer. If the prospective CPO Subaru does not fit both of these criteria, then it cannot be offered under the CPO program. This means that you are getting a newer used car with less mileage when you buy one CPO.

If the used Subaru vehicle meets these two basic criteria, it will undergo a 152-point inspection. This begins with a review of the CARFAX vehicle history report to ensure that the car has a clean title and does not have a retail disclosure. In addition, any modifications made with non-OEM parts will also disqualify the vehicle from the CPO program. After this is verified, the technician will check the tires, interior and exterior condition, the engine, transmission, brakes, steering, safety systems, infotainment features, and all fluids. Once this is completed, the Subaru will be taken for a road test to make sure everything functions properly. This comprehensive inspection is included with all CPO Subaru vehicles.

When you buy a used car, you do not get this kind of review. Instead, you have to pay a mechanic to make this kind of inspection, and there is no guarantee that the mechanic in question is experienced in reviewing the make and model in question. Subaru gives you the peace of mind that a trained technician experienced with all Subaru vehicles has conducted this 152-point inspection.

Finally, when you buy a used car, you usually don't get any additional benefits. For example, if you want a warranty, you often have to pay for this coverage out-of-pocket. When you buy a CPO Subaru, you get a whole host of great additional benefits that are included with the price of the car.

What Are the Details of Subaru's CPO Program?

In addition to the 152-point inspection, Subaru provides you with some amazing benefits when you buy a CPO Subaru under the program. One of the best features of the program is the factory-backed 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty that comes with every CPO Subaru. This covers the engine and transmission, often the most expensive repairs for any vehicle. There is absolutely no deductible on this warranty, so you won't have to go out-of-pocket in the unlikely event that you need a powertrain repair on your CPO Subaru sedan, crossover, or SUV. This warranty includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so Subaru will even tow your vehicle to the nearest dealership for covered repairs.

In addition, Subaru offers two optional warranty plans for all CPO vehicles. The first plan is a 7-year/100,000-mile CPO "Classic" Wrap-around plan with Roadside Assistance. This covers up to 1,000 different parts on your CPO Subaru, including the engine, transmission, drivetrain, fuel system, air conditioning, steering, brakes, front suspension, electrical system, and cooling system. In addition, you also get towing to the nearest Subaru dealer and reimbursement for a rental car if the repairs are covered under the plan.

If you want even further coverage, you can opt for the 7-year/100,000-mile CPO "Gold Plus" Wrap-around plan with Roadside Assistance. This is basically a bumper-to-bumper warranty with very few parts excluded from coverage. In addition, if you choose this plan, you will receive towing to the nearest Subaru dealership and reimbursement for meals and lodging if your CPO Subaru breaks down during an out-of-town trip. Finally, this plan will provide you with computerized trip routing, travel assistance, and retail locator service if you need it as a result of a vehicle breakdown.

Subaru is dedicated to transparency. This is why each CPO Subaru vehicle comes with a complimentary CARFAX vehicle history report. This will provide you with such important information as the title history for your Subaru, whether it was in any major accidents, and a service history. This will help you to make an informed decision when buying your CPO Subaru.

Today's vehicles are a marvel of technological innovation, and Subaru is an industry leader in this regard. The Subaru STARLINK system is a great way to access your car with the MySubaru smartphone app. This system also has other safety and connectivity features. When you buy a CPO Subaru vehicle, you get a free one-year trial subscription to STARLINK Safety Plus Package with automatic collision notification. If you are in an accident, STARLINK will contact a command center that will call for emergency assistance if necessary.

In addition, you will get a three-month trial of SiriusXM on compatible models. This gives you the best in music, comedy, sports, and news; all delivered commercial-free to your CPO Subaru by satellite. If that is not enough, Subaru even includes a $500 owner loyalty coupon, which you can use to buy or lease your next Subaru car or SUV when the time comes.
