Subaru has developed an unrivaled reputation for reliability in the automotive industry, so much so that 96% of all Subaru vehicles sold in the last 10 years are still on the road today. If you read the complete report from Experian, you will see that the statistic for the Subaru Forester is even higher; a full 97% of Foresters are still being driven since they first hit the road 10 years ago. This is why buying a Certified Pre-Owned Subaru Forester is an excellent choice.

At Williams Subaru, we carry a vast inventory of new, used, and Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Subaru models, including the Forester, one of the most versatile and dependable crossovers on the road today. As an authorized Subaru dealer, we can participate in the official Subaru CPO program. This means that you get all the benefits of factory warranties and support with a pre-owned Forester that is a cut above your ordinary used car. Any Forester must be no more than 5 years old and have fewer than 80,000 miles on the odometer to qualify for the Subaru CPO program. In addition, candidates for the program must undergo a comprehensive 152-point inspection, meaning that you are getting the best used Forester available.

What Is Covered on a CPO Forester?

If you buy a CPO Subaru Forester from our dealership, you will get some incredible benefits above and beyond the wonderful vehicle that you will be driving off of our lot. First and foremost in a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. This has the full factory backing of Subaru and has a $0 deductible, so if anything happens to your Forester during the term of the warranty, you will not be paying out of pocket. This warranty covers the engine and transmission on your Forester, which are two of the most expensive parts to fix on a car. In addition, the warranty is fully transferable, so if you decide to sell your CPO Forester, the buyer can get the remaining warranty coverage.

Subaru also offers two fantastic optional warranties on the CPO Forester. The first is a 7-year/100,000-mile CPO "Classic" Wrap-around plan. This covers nearly 1,000 parts on your CPO Forester, including the engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, heating and cooling systems, air conditioning, brakes, steering, electrical system, and fuel system. The second option is a 7-year/100,000-mile CPO "Gold Plus" Wrap-around plan, which is like the Classic plan on steroids. This provides pretty much the same coverage as the "bumper-to-bumper" plan provided to buyers of new Subaru Foresters. The Gold Plus plan will also reimburse you for meals and lodging if a covered breakdown occurs during an out-of-town trip. In addition, Subaru will provide you with computerized trip routing, travel assistance, and a retailer locator service as part of the Gold Plus plan.

All Subaru CPO warranties include eligibility for the 24/7 roadside assistance program. If the breakdown is covered by the applicable warranty during the effective period, then Subaru will cover the cost of towing your CPO Forester to the nearest authorized Subaru dealership for servicing and repairs.

When you buy a CPO Forester from us, you will also receive a CARFAX vehicle history report on your car, so you will get key information on your vehicle. This includes a clean title, information on prior ownership, a repair history, and whether it has ever been in an accident. You will also get a $500 owner loyalty coupon that you can use to purchase your next Subaru.

Finally, you will also get a pair of exceptional subscriptions. First, you will get a one-year subscription to STARLINK Safety Plus Package with Automatic Collision Notification. STARLINK is the Subaru smartphone app that will provide you with crucial safety information, tapping into Subaru's 24/7 network if you get into a collision and allowing you to track your Forester when you are away. The second is a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM. This will give you the best in entertainment, news, sports, comedy, and talk, all commercial-free and available throughout the United States. SiriusXM makes a road trip in your Forester more fun than ever.

Forester History

The Subaru Forester is one of the most award-winning models in its crossover vehicle class. According to Kelley Blue Book, the Forester has the lowest 5-Year Cost to Own in its class and has the Best Resale Value in its class for the last three years. This is why there are few cars that are as good of an investment as a CPO Forester. In addition, Forester has won a 5-star overall vehicle safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration every year since 2014. This means that you and your loved ones will be safe in your Forester no matter where you may go.

Today's Forester builds on a legacy that started in 1998. For that model year, Subaru decided to introduce a new model with classic station wagon looks but SUV versatility and performance. Subaru gave the model the name Forester and gave drivers a choice of a base model designated L or a fully-loaded version called the S. The Forester was introduced as a 5-passenger model and has remained that way to this day.

Those first Forester models featured a 7.5-inch ground clearance, more than a standard sedan. This all-wheel drive standard crossover also came with a 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder gas engine, which could produce up to 165 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. One year later, Subaru changed this to a 2.5-liter SOHC naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gas engine, which boosted the torque to 166 lb-ft. In addition, drivers could get up to 64.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the Forester's trunk by folding down the rear seat.

Not content with its early success, Subaru made a number of upgrades to the Forester leading to a second-generation model introduced for the 2003 model year. In addition to improved legroom, during the second generation, Subaru began offering drivers two optional engines, a 2.5-liter Boxer-4 with 173 horsepower and a 2.5-liter Boxer-4 Turbo with 224 horsepower. The available turbocharged engine improved overall performance and acceleration while maintaining the solid fuel economy of 19 miles per gallon combined on the Forester.

The 2009 model year saw a great leap forward for the Forester as it entered its third generation. One of the biggest changes was an all-new platform for the Forester and redesigned suspension. This gave the Forester a more sporting ride and better overall handling. The ground clearance was also increased to 8.7 inches, making this a better option for dealing with inclement weather as well as off-roading. Subaru continued the choice of two Boxer-4 engines, with the optional engine featuring a turbocharger.

Subaru debuted the fourth generation of the Forester during the 2014 model year. This smoothed a lot of the lines on the prior model, giving it a more aerodynamic profile. In addition, Subaru was able to increase the passenger compartment and trunk space, with a full 74.7 cubic feet of room for cargo with the rear seat folded down, while at the same point improving fuel economy, up to 27 miles per gallon combined. While the 2.5-liter Boxer-4 was retained from the prior generation model, a new 2.0-liter Boxer-4 Turbo was introduced for the upper-level trims on the fourth-generation Forester. This proved more fuel-efficient due to its smaller size while delivering an impressive 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The fourth-generation model also saw the introduction of Subaru's revolutionary EyeSight System of active driver assistance features, making the Forester safer than ever.

Today's Subaru Forester was introduced as the fifth-generation model in 2019. In addition to making many of the safety features on the EyeSight system standard, Subaru gave the Forester a 2.5-liter Boxer-4 engine for all trim levels. This meant that performance and safety are now standard on all Forester models, regardless of your choice of trim level. The model levels instead reflect such items as seat fabric design, luxury gear like a power liftgate, and external trim. The fifth-generation Forester is also the roomiest, with an impressive 43.3 inches of legroom in the first row of seats and an incredible 74.2 cubic feet of trunk space.
